I got back from vacation and noticed the oil in my boat oil reservoir was empty,or darn near. So, I checked the outboard resevior and it was about 3/4" from full. I had no alarm,How low does this have to get before alarm sounds and is there an alarm on the boats reservoir.
Another thing, I did what my manual said. Put oil in remote reservior started motor on muffs removed screwed in cap on the motor reservoir let it fill full, put cap back on. Anything else need to be done?
thanks in advance.

There is no sensor in the tank in the boat..There is a sensor in the tank on the motor. The tank on the motor is the main tank. The tank in the boat is the reserve. The tank in the boat can run totally dry & u won't know it til the tank on the motor gets low. Always chk oil level in the boat BEFORE going fishing. Courtesy, Cary's Mobile Marine Services.

Cary,
Thanks for the reply. So theres no alarm in the boat. One of the questions was if the way I bled the system was right and if my outboard alarm should have sounded. These motors cost 12 to 15 grand and I would hope that the warning horn would work. Not a newbe to boats owned a boat of some sort for the last 30 years. I KNOW I shoulda checked before and 99.99% of the time I do go through all my cheks BEFORE launch.Still would like to no how low the reservoir on outboard should get before alarm sounds.

When I bleed my system I will fill my reservoir in the boat and check that the cap is tight, then fill the reservoir on the motor to about 2" from the top, put the cap on but leave it slightly loose so I can "burp" the bottle. Start the motor (with water muffs connected) and wait for oil to start to seep out past the cap, then tighten the cap and the deed is done.
I am not sure when the low oil horn goes off though.
