As you know, CPS is the over all manager of Calaveras, they are in big financial streights...I wouldn't look for many improvements, especially if they cost money. I feel we are going to be lucky if things remain about what they are. Admission is bound to go up. I hope I am wrong, but in today's climate, I think I am being a realist. Roger

I googled "thousand trails" & this is what I came up with. If this is the company that's going to run Calaveras, get out your pocketbook! Roger http://www.1000trails.com/

haha same thing i said...im not sure they realize the demographic at calaveras and braunig.........most the people who fish there aren't "loaded". Like someone put on here before with lakes that close to the Southside of san antonio, they about as pretty as they gonna get!

We should see "change" out there in the management style. But don't think for a second they will make tons of changes all at one time. Business 101-do not make your customers mad!
They have done their homework on this one. Companies do not just jump at situations without thinking them through first. Is there reason to be skeptical? Sure... But they know what makes them the most money out there "fishing" and they will exploit that to best of their ability.
One thing we all hope to see is better facilities and just a better kept park. Be on the look-out for park employees to harass you a little more to make sure your doing the right thing out there and that actually is a good thing. Don't be surprised if they check your boats for creel limits and they will most likely be writing some tickets out there to keep everyone honest.
Will the fees go up? Maybe. But if there is new facilities and better policing then its worth it in my opinion. But change is hard to deal with sometimes. I hope the company is ready for all the crazy people at those lakes... I get a good laugh every time I am out there! But it is a fun place to go for some decent fighting reds.
Land was created to provide a place for boats to visit!! It is when pirates count their booty that they become mere thieves. ARRRRRR....

What I gather from their web site is they operate the world's largest network of private membership camping resorts known as preserves to the members. Most are either on a lake, river, or close to the ocean. Their sites offer RV sites, cabins, cottages, swimming pools, mini-golf, sport courts, family lodges and miles of hiking trails, all protected by 24 hour security. I hope that not what they are looking to do at Calaveras, it would sure hurt my fishing time.

I haven't heard of any plans for Braunig. If it remains more or less like it is, you & they rest of S.A. will be there..in line. Roger

Man I just heard the oddest thing they are going to make Calaveras into and RV park and it is members only they are not going to allow any guided fishing unless they pay the company huge dollar amounts for there guide tag. Also one pole per person no beer anywhere on the lake and will be fined if you have it. Trolling will only be allowed 2 days a week..
Now that everyone is stirred up I made up all above!!!!!!!!!!
