Going to West Texas for Thanksgiving, and considering taking my boat. I have not been on Alan Henry since this time last year. Can anybody give me some help?

Leave the boat at home and go to the strip club instead...it's more productive.

No fish is too good for the grease.

I have been fishing Alan Henry for the last few months and have had very little luck, well, almost none at all. Last time I was there the water temp was 63 and it has been a few weeks so I bet it's 60 or below by now. Quite a few people on this forum have been saying the lake is not in it's prime, but then again there are one or two that just seem to know what they are doing.

I might try it again this weekend if I feel like it when I wake up on Saturday morning. I will let you know how it goes if I make it down there.

Most of the bass have been caught and killed. End of story. de

TAKE A PHOTO HOME NOT THE FISH. CATCH AND RELEASE
Set the hook first and ask questions later.

Actually there is more to the overall story. Many are calling to lower the slot so they themsleves can now destroy the Spotted Bass population as well. If they play golf I can see them removing the cup after making a hole, this would be the same thing. After the cup is removed no one could play behind them as seen at Allen Henry. de

I'd try to carlolina rig in hags tornado or grande bass or any straight tailed worms. I haven't seen clouds in some time around lubbock and I usually do best with soft plastics out there when it's clear.

You may find some happy spots up in the back of creeks somewhere about now. Don't get your hopes up though... that lake sucks

no clue....

As for the fishing if you go be sure to keep an eye on your graph constatly... the fish seem to still be staging up around structure at the mouths of the creeks. hasnt quite got got cold enough to push the bigest wave of them back into shallow water. If you like to fish fast brake out the big cranks and go to work... if not you can pick up good numbers on shakey heads, drop shots or jigs anywere from 10 to 40 ft deep. Slow slow slow is the key... even on the cranks a pull and pause retreive with a suspending dd has been productive lately. im sure you could find some solid fish up shallow already if you covered alot of water...
Good luck.. looks to be a beautiful weekend!

Ditto on what he said. I would add to look for clear to lightly stained water. I have had fair luck the last two weekends with blade baits and slow rolling spinners all in the 15 to 25 ft ranges.

Thanks for all the help. Unfortunately, I did not see the posts until today (Tuesday), and I fished all day Sunday. However, I did catch nine keepers, with the biggest around 3 lb's. Best 5 would have weighed around 12 lbs. Had 3-4 spots that were 2 - 2 1/2 lbs. Thanks again for the help..

Saturday I was really surprised because when backing the boat down to launch, I noticed the temp in the rear veiw mirror 27 degrees. Had one of my best days for numbers throwing a wacky worm and shacky head jig. Missed a lot of fish as the bite was hard to detect untill it was too late.

TPWD definitely needs to pay more attention to Lake Alan Henry.
