The Game Warden told me to start taking pictures or video of those SOB'S and get the TX number and report them. If they come close enough to take a picture than they are to close, and they are responsible for their wake if any damage occures to your boat from their wake.Sorry fella's but those $#%^%^^@! ski boats are *&^&^@$ everywhere. Gus I haven't fished Bastrop for crappie since the spring. I heard the surface water temp is about 101 degrees now. You might try around the dam there's alot of structure on the south end in about 20-25 feet of water, or go over by the boy scout camp in about 25-30 feet of water. With the hot lake temperature the fish may be deeper. Like I said, I haven't fished Bastrop in awhile.
Good Luck..........................Sharecropper

Hey Gus, I haven't fished Bastrop in a while but I do have Lake records on that Lake and Decker Lake. Here are some GPS cords. I'm not sure what part of the Lake they are in but I'm sure they are brushpiles that I sunk before the Ranger told me I couldn't.

I was out on Granger Sunday, caught about 10 keepers and about a 60 little ones. They were all caught on Brush piles along the protected shores of Fox and Taylor park because of the wind. I still need some help learning how to fish the standing timber? Can any one offer a green horn some advice on this? I see guys with there boat back in the stick and I assume they are jigging for crappie. Can one of you old timers help a guy out?
In additon let me know if you guys need a fishing partner sometime I am trying to learn!

Sharecopper, I've been spinning a lot of time at work and working around the house, getting my honey-do's done before deer season. We where out there Sunday from 11:00 to 5:00,(18 keepers)
Time2gofish, We fish the timber just like we fish in the spring or fish the brush piles, just jig around the stumps. Some stumps hold fish and some don"t. We caught fish in 2 feet of water to 13 foot of water and if someone would have told me last year that they are catching fish in August in "2 feet of water" I would say that some one is B-S-ing me!

quick question about granger....I have always been afraid to take my boat out on granger due to the winds that people talk about out there. From what I have heard there have been several cases of the wind just picking up out there and knocking boats over? I dont how the wind can be worse there then anyother lake?
I have a 16' wide body jon boat w/ a 25hp motor....do you guys think that this lake is dangerous for me in that boat?

just check the weather before you go. never heard of the wind just picking up and flipping somone. If it does get over 20-25 just dont haul a** and you will be fine.

Granger does not have the canyon walls nor a lot of big trees so there is usually some wind. Just as you would on any lake, keep a close eye on the weather forecast and know the limits of you and your boat. I have a little 14' 1967 Deep V with a little 18HP on it... I don't mind south winds at Granger, for you can put in at Taylor or Fox and hug the shore and still have a good time fishing. Now if it's out of the North and is gusty, I head over to Georgetown which is nicely protected from a northern wind. There just is not enough cover on the north side for my little boat to allow me to fish with ease when I launch from Friendship. (Been there...done that...lol) I just try not to put my boat into a spot which I can't handle. It's getting up there in age along with the captain... Good luck and see you on the lake...

Bofly, Did the timber area pay off or did you catch the fish elsewhere? I fished Saturday morning but I heard they were biting later in the afternoon. Slow for me.

bofly, Thanks for the info, I think I am going to try fishing the timber next weekend. Do you guys troll back into the timber working the stumps as you go back?
thanks again for the info. If you ever see me out on the lake give me a shout. I have an old green 16' Dogget bass boat, with an 1972 model Evinrude, repainted dark blue. c-ya

I tried out trolling in general last year for crappie on Granger. Had some minor success. I found out that if I motored around the area I wanted to troll in, I could identify any big stickups/brush piles/ect prior to dropping a line. I lost a number of jigs due to them getting hung up on brush piles or timber.
I don't troll much any more on this lake. I have taken the lessons shared here and by the local expert(s) to heart.
I trolled the areas between Taylor, Fox to the dam, btw.
