Since I've been tying small flies until recently (size 20-30) I've tried to stick with TMC, Daiichi and some Mustad books because I've been told the quality is better. I've found some pretty good deals on Ebay for no-name books and Dai-Riki hooks. I'm looking at 14-20 size now. Anybody bought any bulk hooks on Ebay? It would be nice to get 200 hooks for what I've paid for 50 TMC's.

I would not buy any no name hooks at all. As far as Dai-Riki, I got some in, and they seem like a pretty good hook to me. Mainly I got small nymph type hooks. I do not know how they hold up to a fish yet. I know they were sharp out of the pack, and that made me happy. I am going to be trying these, and 710, and 700 streamer hooks. I heard excellent report on the 700, and one bad report. I finally organized my hooks, and am pleased with the results. Now to find my standard hooks...still working on that. As far as bulk hooks, if the dealer has a good rep, and you buy bulk from them, you should be pleased.

I have bought eBay hooks and have also found some sweet deals on occasion by going to the Things Wanted on FAOL and posting there. Sometimes someone will be looking to unload some extras.

I have been using some of the Dai-Riki hooks for a long time now. I find them as sharp as Tiemco and much less brittle.

Dai-Riki makes some good hooks. I buy them by the 1000 for some patterns. I have tied chernobyls and streamers on them for years and have had great success. Be aware that their smaller dry fly hooks(305)do not have identical proportions to the TMC hooks that you have been using.
The Dai-Rikis are great down to a 14 or so but the decreased hook gap on the 16 and smaller was a deterrent to me. Even offsetting the point did not seem to solve the problem. I chose to stick with TMC for my smallest patterns.

I am glad to know y'all like Dai-Riki too. I just got in a pack of 700 and 710 in a size 6. Do you like both of these for streamers? I thought they would be slightly sharper than they were. The other hooks I got from them were very sharp...but much smaller. I have not tied with them yet. I know I like their prices better than some brands.
