This may have been done before. If so, I would love to hear how well it worked or opinions. While thinking baout making some pallet pyramid type condos, I was looking around the place for some ideas and this is what I came up with. I had some old hog wire fencing that I was going to use on a duck blind and never got around to it. I rolled that into a cylinder about four feet across then covered it in bamboo stalks that came from an empty lot near us. Then took two landscape blocks and wired them on the inside of the tube. Then we sunk them (2) in 12 and 8 feet of water beside the boathouse. My place is on Cedar Creek. Do you think this might work out? My thought was that this gave the crappie a tube to hide in and the bamboo won't rot as quickly as other wood. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Other than that hogwire being a jig stealer, any structure should work.

Eight feet seems rather shollow to me. The boat dock itself would provide the structure at that depth, I would of set it out a bit deeper to give them a "stair-step" type thing to attract them to the dock.

it should work, my dock is only about 6 ft and it's loaded with brush and crappie about 6 months out of the year. I agree with bozo about the wire may be a jig stealer but besides that it should attract fish and hold more under your dock than if you didnt have anything.
