I'm coming in from out of town to visit my parents and I was wondering how's the black bass fishing been on grapevine lake. Just lookin' for general information like fishin's good/bad, deep/shallow, etc.

Shallow square bill cranks in bright colors on banks with chunk rock. Run and gun and you'll catch numbers with decent fish mixed in. Fish are out on the edges of the bean pole trees early and backing into them once the sun gets up.

Thanks everyone for the tips. Wasn't sure at what stage the bass were in, whether they were still pretty shallow or heading back deeper toward the winter holes.

Jay when you say bean pole trees did you mean those stick-like plants that are flooded around the edges of the bank? Been fishing Grapevine for 35 yrs and never heard of bean pole trees.

Bass have been chasing like crazy the last few weeks around mouth of creeks. Pretty much any moving bait will get these fish. 3-6ft of water. Had most of my success on spinnerbaits.

Ya, they're the trees that grew up about 4-6ft tall, really thin stalks and branches with tons of little bean pods on the ends.
