1/29/05 Conroe

Fished for a short time on Saturday, 11-3:30. I ended up with 4 good enough for the freezer.

I need to branch out a bit because they are on the move. The sure aren't stacked in the same hole that they were in 2 weeks ago. The 3 black crappie I cleaned yesterday had some egg sacks that were starting to get real bright, larger eggs and plenty big blood vessels going to them. I think they are just short while away from doing their spring fling, 3-4 weeks I'd guess. Some will spawn the next full moon I'd wager. The white crappie that I cleaned had much paler egg sack, with less developed eggs. They still have a good while before they are ready.

Oh well, that is why it is called fishing and not catching.

Had fun as always.

Bozo - have you tried around or up Caney Creek at all? Just curious. I bounced around a few spots last week without any luck. Did ok with the cats under the bridge though.

Yes. I was fishing really close to Caney but, in the main lake.

Somebody put in one biggun of a brushpile withing 100 yards of where I have been catching them. I think that has drawn them all in. The only problem with that is, it appears that whoever put it in, posted the coordinates on the bullitin board at all the local marinas or something. I say that because, that pile is like a revolving door. There is always one - three boats sitting on top of it. It must be a neighborhood project or a pile that was done by all the volunteers that did the brush setting out of April Plaza a few weeks ago.

There used to never be anybody but bass fisherman there but, now it is a busy, busy place for crappie fishermen.

I must be the only guy that doesn't know it.

It sounds like it's north of 1097 in the main lake?

Anyone going out this weekend?
