Bass Pro has it on sale 50% off and I've always heard that Lews is good stuff. I'm thinking of picking this one up since it's down to $50. Any one have reviews of their equipment or this model in particular?

When I needed mine fixed, I talked to the folks at SW Parts in Dallas and they told me that if it's the version that was made for BPS, he might not be able to get the parts to repair. Luckily, I bought one that wasn't and got it repaired. You might call SW Parts and talk to them about it.

I have had a Lews Speed spool for about two years now. I have no complaints at all. It has been a great real. It seems to work great from a 4" texas rigged worm to a slab and even with a no weight sassy shad. very smooth and good castability. (castability)(is that a word)...

I picked it up today. I figured at 50% off it was a deal and if not, BassPro is just around the corner and I can swap it out if something goes wrong. Hopefully I'll be able to test it out Friday morning.

I still have the receipt and if I don't like it this weekend, I can run it back. Friday I have an interview to go to work at the BPS in Grapevine. Maybe I can take it back and come out even on the Curado with the employee discount.
RMax How much does SW Parts charge to do general repairs? I have a old Ambassadeur FIVE that I used to love but last time I broke it down to oil it something didn't come back together right and now it's in a bad way.

I've fished Lew's BB1N's and NG's for years, I've got six or seven of 'em. I keep them cleaned and lubed and they keep going. Mine are the older ones with black side plates, I don't know about the newer ones.
I'm afraid to try a Curado, actually. I don't have it in the budget right now to replace my Lew'ses and I bet I'd want to after tossing a Curado.
I've never killed anyone, but I've read several obituaries with great enjoyment.

Fishin Steeler, if you start selling off your older Lews reels, let me know. I like the old ones. I really like the lower gear ratio ones for throwing crank baits. I have a curado 5-1 gear ratio reel that has very little useage that I might trade out with you if you want one to try out.
Send me an email if you are interested.

I've had problems with mine and would also love to get ahold of the older ones. Once SW Parts and Service fixed mine it's been great though. Can't remember what the cost was but you can call and check it out. http://www.fishingreelrepair.com/frames.asp
