I have started fishing for crappie on Texoma and would like to know what the fish do in the winter? I am catching some on mainlake brush in 20 feet of water and was wondering if these fish will stay there through the winter or move deeper or? I would like to start putting out some condos and need to know more about seasonal patterns for this lake. Thanks for any advice.

I fish all year including the winter but I don't fish texoma. Crappie patterns are going to be similiar on most lakes. Here on CC the winter fishing remains good on deep brush piles.

Deep brush and marinas in 13-18ft deep. Ive been fishing Texoma for years and the winter time is AWESOME!

Thanks i guess i will start out putting some in 20' and see what happens. I know on lake fork we always catch them in 35'-50' in the winter, so i was wondering if they would go that deep on texoma.

I've been fishing it for two years and it is flat out incredible.

They don't go as deep on Texoma as they do on Lake Fork in the winter. You can catch them 12-30 ft. there all winter. I wouldn't sink anything deeper.

I fish bout 150 plus days a year alot of your fish won't even make that trip towards the deeper areas such as damn areas they'll stage on feeder creeks or main points along the main channel Ive caught them in less than 8' of water in the dead of winter feeding on shad under marina lights that are within 1 mile of the main lake the key is the bait fish and travel routes set up on these 1n 16-30 foot of water and you've got Yourself covered such as feeder creek intersects hairpin turns in the channel back side inner points,slight drepressions in flats at least a 2-3 foot dip in a flat area on down sides on main channels small humps on flats main lake ares fish at least 100 yds down wind of feeding bird active for larger fish they let the little ones do all the work Good Luck!

Don't know if Texoma has any rock bluffs with pole timber, but
in Missouri that was always a good place to try. Usually rock
bluffs meant deep channel swings and usually some ledges. Shad
tend to be there and so will the crappie. Where there is lots
of rock there is warmer water. For what its worth, Good Luck

My Dad kept a fishing ledger, one year He ( he would generally
take a buddy , but somedays fished alone) kept over 1000 crappie in November and December
fishing a creek , miles from the main lake. These were crappie
brought to the house, not including throw backs. Oklahoma
limit at the time was 37, I believe.

From what I understand , the fish do not always use this
creek , but when they do, fishing is very good all winter long,
they don't move out till the spring floods.
