Going out to Georgetown Saturday night for some crappie. I would also like to throw out some jugs before dark for some catfish. Anybody know of a good location for the jugs?

Don't know of any locations for jugs.
All, I am feeling a bit under the weather. The whole family had the flu over the Christmas break, I was lucky enough to stay some what healthy until now. Pop'in the pills as I type. Hoping to feel a bit better but unless something changes, looks like my fishing may be out of the question for this weekend. I will post if something changes. I can already feel the thump...
Good luck to those who are going out! Post your results..

Anyone planning to hit the lake on Friday night? I am pumping myself full of pills and holding out hope that I am on the down side of the cold.
Friday is setting up to a good night to be out on the lake. Winds will be clam after sun set and the temp will be in the low 50's to high 40's. The moon will be full on Saturday, making Friday a prime time for activities. I kinda want to see if the almanac is right.
With that being said, I am planning now to make a go of fishing on Friday night.

Sabot, good luck to you on Friday. If you can't find someone to go with you on Friday, you may consider Saturday. Saturday is warmer and nicer for you under the influence of cold. I can't wait to feel the thump now.

Don't you think the full moon will slow the nite bit any? Or was it pretty steady the whole month of Dec.?
Stinkbate, it helps to have a boat, but I hear you can fish right off the bank. I haven't been able to make it to a gathering yet, but hope to soon.

Where do they go when they're not there???

You don't need a boat but it's very helpful to carry all your equipment out. There is a little walk that you would have to do to get to various spots over rocks and thru brush. I have done both and prefer the boat option. winterwang, I am waiting to hear if my fishin partner will be fishing Friday. If he is not then I will switch over to fish Saturday night. Since there seems to be a few TFF'ers planning to come out to the lake. I already planted the seed of fishing with my wife. I have family coming in Sunday, so more fish for them the better. (Points with the wife... don't ask..) I am feeling a lot better today and I will be fishing this weekend for sure. I want to attend the Belton Boat Show, which I believe is happening this weekend. Mostly to hear Tommy's lecture on crappie fishing. If things go right, I can just take the Georgetown exit on the way back from Belton and be at the lake! RAM, I heard you have been busy in the Highland lakes. Do you think you can break away to come out to Georgetown or maybe we can plan a trip in your neck of the woods? I will go almost anywhere there is crappie. I don't care to catch those junk fish such as those green trash can carps.

Just spoke to my partner, he can't make it tonight. I will then shift my plans to fishing Saturday night with you all. What are the times that you guys will start to show up? Anyone going out earlier before dark? I will be down in the old spot as normal. I need to bring a trash bag for I have been seeing trash starting to collect in our honey hole. Need to keep it clean so it won't be so apparent to others.

Winterwang,
What time will you go searching for the bait? I have a net (which I have never used) and would like to learn how to catch my own bait. Would you mind showing me the tricks of the trade?

BTW, Sabot, what kind of net is yours? To catch minnows, you have to have a 1/4" net. The normal 3/8" net will not do.

I don't know, I bought it last year at Academy with high hopes of using it. Just been too lazy to load it up and take it with me. What I recall was that I did buy it with the intent of catching the local bait. I would then guess it would be the smaller 1/4" net.
I am planning to attend the Belton Boat show if Tommy is giving his seminar. If it's not too late in the day. I am not sure if my phone will work in the show but leave me a voice mail and a number which I can call you back. I will check my VM through out the day.
FishingTime,
Are you still planning on coming out?
