http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa...&hasJS=true I'm looking at buying THAT light (don't try to sell me a different one, I want THAT one). The question I have is how do I know how long a particular battery will last on one of these lights? It states that it draws 3.5 amps per hour. Does this mean that if a battery says it's got 210 amps, the light will go for about 60 hours (of course getting quite dim for the last 20 hours or so)? How do I know??? I don't want to buy a $20 light and have to lug a 90 lb. $100 battery around with me in order to have the light for 10 hours of fishing.

Also, how about those aerators they have at Wal-Mart that are basically a modified bilge pump? How long would one of those last?

That's where I saw the light...I just used the cabela's link so people would know exactly which light (in case they know from exact experience how long it lasts with which battery).

i use two of them lights and it works all night for me. i use two batterys in my boat, one for all the acces and one for the starter. i also have some areators and just hook em up to my acces batterys. if that battery goes dead, then at least i still have the cranking battery to get back to shore. i usually use two of the underwater lights. one white, one green. i havent found much of a diffence in them. i have not had either battery go dead yet. that is also with the night lights on, two fishfinders etc.
Use as many fishing poles as possable, for you never know when school will be out.

If you want that exact light, there are over 7 new ones on E-Bay. Starting at $0.99 to $10.00
Cannot beat the price, if you do not like the performance....IMO
Example: Search on "Q-Beam or Brinkman" http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7130553863&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

Those little bait aerators "Bubble Boxes" at wal-mart are really worth it on the warmer days. I have been able to keep minnows for two days using the little "bubble-boxes" and a styrofoam minnow bucket. I have run the (small) bubble boxes for more than 24 hours at a time on those two batteries. I like them, because I don't have to drive out of the way just to get more minnows the next day. I just jump back in the boat and GO.

Catfish_Hunter, I know what you are after, and don't worry the green lights will attract carp

To answer the original question, you can directly relate the amp draw to the amp/hour rating of the battery. A 100 amp/hour battery will operate a 2 amp draw for 50 hours before the voltage starts to drop below 10.5. Also keep in mind that a 6 amp battery charger will take over 16 hoours to completely charge a dead 100 amp/hour battery. People will rarely get expected life from a battery because they don't keep it fully charged.
My $ .02.

That's a great little light. I've used mine all night on several occasions without putting a dent in the battery capacity. Just be sure to immerse it in the water before you plug it up. It gets hot and the outer globe will burst, then the halogen goes. It's not CorningWare!

I want to get the same light as the Hunter but I want to cut the battery clamps off and put a plug on. I do not have or want a battery and my slip has outlets. Will that work???

You cannot use that 12 volt DC light plugged into a 120 volt AC outlet. It will work, but just for a second. Connect the 12 volt light to a battery charger plugged into the 120 volt outlet. That would work.
