Well it's been a while coming, took more than one throw this morning, but the freezer is stocked for a while with decent gizzards and perch. Today's count ended with 54 gizzards.

ive been going to lewisville/texoma/ray bob/grapevine striper/hybrid/sandbass fishing for years now. before i start fishing i always through a net for live bait. i have a great bait tank that holds pounds and pounds of shad alive all day no problem. it would be very easy for me to vacuum bag alot(hundreds)of 5 inch gizards right now. do they work just as good for catfish 1 2 3 4 5 months down the road. do i need to put salt or something else in the bag with them. ive decided i want to start catfishing to. i know ive been missing out on great catfishing around here for years and ive decided its time i start enjoying it also. thanks guys.

All I do for mine is just freeze them with a little lake water in the bag. The size of the bait determines how many I put in each bag. The freezer burn is reduced or eliminated when air is removed and the water helps to seal them in for me. I usually don't keep them more than a few months as I just throw the net when I need to.

We're gonna see how well they do down the line. They have been hard to come by around here on the lakes in any decent quantity, (more than one)so I've stocked up to see how it does.

I put some in a bag with a handfull of water softener salt, and water, and they didn't freeze, I used them the next time I went, but since then I have been puting them in the bag dry and throwing a handfull of salt in the bag!!!
