I'm totally new here, I plan to spend spring break in Galveston/Matagorda, and I need a checklist of what I need. I have a truck to get on the beach, I know I need a fishing license, what will I needs for lures, gear, etc?

Do you plan on fishing for just that week or do you plan to get into fishing more after that? And what kind of budget are we talking about as far as spending on gear? Also what kind of fishing do you plan to do and what species do you plan to go after? Surf fishing, fishing the bays, etc? Do you plan to go after trout and reds in the bays or bigger species in the surf? Also are you looking to use live bait or artificial lures, or both? And do you plan to fish from a boat, jetty, pier, or wade fishing?

I plan to fish more after that, I should have my truck ready by then. I plan to surf fish, I need advice such as where to go, what lures to use(for Redfish), and things I need to have just in case.
