I fish at Brushy Creek, some decent cats get caught out of there as well as bass and crappie. Mostly dinks, and I've only done very well there on a kayak, the water is pretty shallow for bank fishing unless you risk the dam and snakes, or the creekside of things which is full of snakes (and a beaver) Another option real close is the YMCA twin lakes right off of 183, catch and release only but great bank fishing for kids, more of a bass and sunfish place. The metro pond over in Manor is stocked with cats, as well as the lake/pond in Plugerville. Personally, I'm taking the 40 min drive to Granger for cats and crappie this weekend.

In Round Rock at the Dell Diamond is Old Settlers Park. It has a nice little lake with bass and sunfish. Not sure about cats though.

There is also Meadow Lake in Round Rock, but watch out for snakes. If you google it, you will get directions.
