There are several reasons for white fish, 1st is cold water. The fish may have come from deep water or recently moved up. The 2nd reason is muddy water. 3rd reason is lack of grass where fish was at, you can tell at the scales what fish came from grass beds by the dark green color.

I'll go with option # 3 Lack of Grass.

Cause it's primarily deep water and it may even be a bit strange who knows whats in that lake.

Lack of grass, and the fish probably came from deep water. I caught a 3 lber there the other day from 1.5 ft of water that had good color. I'll take any of those albino 10 lbers, the taxidermist can always add a little green paint!

"Why do the bass at Joe Pool have no color?"
Because they didn't get the $50 government rebate on the Digital TV Converter Box grin
Seriously, I think the number one reason is lack of light penetration (dirty water or being deep).

Open your livewell, and let the sunlight in. IMO, not enought Sunlight has reached the fish, i.e. its a deep fish, and/or the water is MUDDY. This comes from catching many bleached out Largemouth in some of the muddiest water along the Mississippi.

The colorations on a bass are a camoflauge of a major predator.

Dan, it's a combo of lack of grass and the gact that the fish has been quite deep recently. Back in the day--when we had grass on Pool---you could readily tell the ones that spent most of their time shallow (very green) and those that had just moved up--if you caught them shallow-- (ghost white)

BTW---I'll take my ten pounder in ANY color!! lol

the color is not permanant...they can get darker if they move up and stay. color is camo and changeable, so get your 10 replica done as dark as you like

Its from the dirty water and the lack of grass. Areas with grass will have the cleaner water.

Deep water fish at Fork have good color so I don't think depth has anything to do with it.
