anyone apply any of the do it yourself bedliners like Herculiner?

i have line-x in my new truck but don't want to spend that much money to line an older truck that i have so i was thinking about one of the do it yourself products. i was reading about Herculiner and someone made a comment that in the hot sun the liner gets tacky. well living in texas it will see more than it's share of hot summer days.

anyone have personal experience with any of the do it yourself products? if so, how easy was application, does it get tacky, if black did it fade fast and are you satisified with it?

I've been wanting to coat my trailer. Any recommendations???

good idea, especially on the trailer tongue where you sometimes climb in and out the boat when launching by yourself.

I haven't applied it to my truck (yet) but I coated the deck of my boat with Durabak. Durabak is designed to be applied by roller and the application was very easy. It looks good and has held up very well over one west Texas summer. I like it so well that I will be applying Durabak as a bedliner in my new truck.

Get some skateboard grip tape & the slipping priblem will be solved.

When i was in high school i had a part time job at a local ford dealership doing their spray in bedliners so i have a background in this. There are many different companies that make bedliner material and none of them are the same. I've used several different brands and if the truck or whatever else it is applied to is properly prepared(cleaned and sanded and cleaned again) most of them will last forever with no problems. With that said the do it yourself stuff is total garbage. If you want a bedliner spend the money and get a quality product put in by someone who earns their money spraying them.

Sounds like window tint. You can buy the stuff most anywhere but it is junk. Only dealers or installers can get the good stuff. Just a way of blocking out the DIYs

Get it done somewhere, the stuff in the can suck. I knew someone who did it themselves and it didnt last.

I'd stick with Line-ex, good stuff and will last a long time.

you have to think through the roll on application very well. Some of that wont adhere well and thats why professional places spend a lot of time first removing the paint from the bed. Otherwise, the stuff only ends up sticking to the paint and eventually starts to peel off. At least, that is what I was told.

I coated my trailer fenders and Trailer right in front of the fenders and the crossmembers with a spray and haven't had any problems with it coming off. Been on almost a year. The only thing that i noticed was that it faded--trailer is black and it matched perfect until the sun faded it out. Probalby will shoot more on or spray with some black paint.

If you have a Ford it will definitely peel off if you do not remove the paint.

Ha Ha lol. I'm a student in autobody and I just did a friends f150 with the rustolium brand. What we did is sprayed it with a special gun then we sprayed clearcoat ovr it. Looks great and won't fade (sprayed clearcoat with regular spray gun)
