Hey Guys,

I am out at TCU so havent been able to fish for a couple months, however i come back in town for christmas from like december 15 to the end of january, and i plan to do a lot of fishing because i go this itch. Anyway, i have always like crappie fishing but have never fished with them in the winter. I was just wondering what patterns there are, where they are located, what to look for and such. I will prolly fish lewisville, Ray Roberts, and Grapevine, and i dont have a boat. I am just looking for general information, and i am willing to work and learn on my own afterwords, i just need to get pointed in the right direction. Thanks for any help.

Dice, check back to the posts from last December. There is a lot of information
on where, when, and what.

dice123,

Do a search for "creeks" in the Crappie section, there is a lot of info from last year. Basically you can fish a 1/32oz jig, 1-3 feet under a bobber in the creeks during the winter, while walking the banks. There are creeks off Grapevine, Roberts and Lewisville that are good. Personally, I had a 1-2 trips a week in December and January where I caught 20-40 crappie. The fishing was good more times than not.

Quote from Guy Skinner, "all creeks have crappie". laugh laugh

Do the search and figure it out. There are even maps to some of the more popular spots. wink

Good Luck!
