I just got a ugly email criticizing me that I should not give out any information about where on Cooper Lake I catch fish at. He was mad because he wants to keep Cooper Lake a secret from all of the world because he wants to keep it from all of you guys. He doesn't want anymore boats on the lake than possible. I work 5 days a week. The only time I have to fish is on the weekends between spending time with my family. That does not leave me much time to fish. Half of the time I do fish I'm looking for the fish them selves. I know a lot of folks on this board are in the same boat that I am. So in return I try to help yall as much as you help me and I will keep on doing and I will probably do it more because of emails like the one I recieved. What's yalls thoughts on this subject.

I do not fish Cooper Lake but I would tell him, he does not have to post up spots. BUt you have every right to. It is your choice. I would just delete the e-mail and go on. ------------------ David

In June of 1996 my one and only child, a son, was born. At that time I quit playing golf and fishing to spend all my time with him. A great move! Now we have started fishing. He loves it. We need all the tips we can get and truly appreciate all the help. It really disapoints me to see the folks that act like I am going to take a meal away from them if I catch a fish or two near them.
Thanks, Danny

Longtine, I'm in the same boat as you. I have children and other obligations that keep me off the water more times than not. It helps put the fun into fishing when you get confidence by having a slight clue of where to go on a particular lake.
I'd say, if this person doesn't want to tell his spots, more power to him. If you'd like to share what you think is a good spot that you found, that is totally YOUR business. My thought is that the forum is hear to share tips and secrets.. not tease everyone to make yourself feel big.
Please, keep sharing info.. It helps all us weekenders have more fun on the water.

I'm with them. I'm a weekend fisherman and lot's of times I have my kids with me. I'm not out to take anyone's fish from them. It's up to the individual if they want to help. All of the people I've talked to have been friendly about it here. About Cooper. Quickest I can get back there will be three weeks. Really I don't think I can steal a bunch of fish from anybody. I wish I had that kind of time.. Keep doing what you are doing and help anybody you want.. Thanks to all the people here that help with some info...

Another thing... I can tell you the exact spot within a foot of where I caught an 8 lb. bass. 9.9 times out of 10 that bass isn't there anymore. I know because I go back to the same spots myself.

Here is some food for thought. How many of you think this emailer reads this site in hopes of getting information to help him/her find fish, learn techniques, etc. ??? It seems a bit hypocritical to get upset with people for sharing information. This also is a product of the huge courage people get from email. They have the ability to say whatever they want and not have to face up to their actions. Just ignore him/her, keep doing what your doing, and we will all do the same. I have given EXACT locations of some of my honey holes. IF it is truly a honey hole, then there is no way we can fish it comepletely out. The fish were there before we were, and they will be there when we go. I am sorry you had to meet a bad seed. All but one person, remaining nameless, I have met on this forum have been top notch.
Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity. Patton

Exactly., Heck I report when I DON"T catch fish.. So people will not do what I did when I had no success. I've taken more info here than I've given. When I know something, I'll try to talk about it here. I think that's what being a member of the forum is about. Giving up spots is up to the individual. Everyone knows that most people would rather give their go-to spots to friends or family. That doesn't mean you can't help out with patterns, water depth, baits and time of day and all that stuff..

no comment(my lips are sealed).i used to tell people where i fished.one of those places i used to fish was a great place to fish,so i told a few people who told a few people, who told a few people.now i can no longer fish this spot because of the crowds.there are so many people fishing it now that the quantity and size of the fish has diminished to the point that its no longer a good spot to fish.if you want to tell people where your favorite spots are thats your buisness.personally i will keep my spots to myself...have a nice day...crappieslayer

it took some _ _ _ _ s to email you something like that... I keep some places to myself like anyone else...If I want to tell someone where I catch fish...That's my business and my business only...If someone is so insecure as to be so afraid that you telling about where you caught fish..maybe they need counseling! I agree with Slayer to a point... As soon as I say where I catch fish... I can expect 10 people to be standing there the next day..but if I chose to do that it's my business...sometimes i do and sometimes i don't!! Fishing is about freedom.. You are free here.. Longtine, If you remember back a month or so ago there was a guy that was coming down from OK. I can't remember his handle now. Anyway you gave him a few GPS locations to try. I was all to glad to add a couple more that I knew.....I personally hope that guy had a ball fishing down here!!!!!!!!!!! My point is, that just because fish are in one location today don't mean they will be there tomorrow. It just makes be feel good to tell someone else where they might have some fun with their kids, wifes, etc. For me, I will continue giving others locations that I've found, and I thank you for sharing with me!!

Thanks for all the posts guys. I like to help people and as a christian and fellow fisherman, I'll help any of you that ask. Even the guy who emailed me now that I now who he is. The point is I'm going to always leave a honey hole to myself and friends if I can, but if some father comes on here and asks where he can take his two boys to go catch crappie, by golly I'm going to tell him and if he can't find it and I'm on the lake I'll show him. Thanks again.

I AM LIKE MOST OF YOU GUYS HERE, A WEEK-END FISHERMAN, AND BETWEEN COACHING LITTLE LEAGUE AND FAMILY THERE IS NOT A WHOLE LOT OF FISHING EVEN ON THE WEEK-END. SO WHEN I GO AND I DO GOOD I USUALLY WILL LET YOU KNOW BECAUSE CHANCES ARE IT MAY BE 2 WEEKS BEFORE I CAN GO BACK AND EVEN IF I CAN GO BACK IT'S NOT GOING TO BOTHER ME IF OTHER PEOPLE ARE THERE, I'M JUST GOING TO GET IN THERE WITH THEM. I WILL BE GOING TO COOPER THIS WEEK-END TO TRY MY FAVORITE SPOT AND IF I DO GOOD I WILL LET ALL THE FLOAT TUBERS KNOW WHERE IT'S AT SO THEY TO CAN GET IN ON THE ACTION.

I'll post every spot I know. Why? Because I feel I have taken my fishing to a level of exploration. Like the thrill of the hunt. If I need/want fish to eat, I'll stack up on bridge crappie at Fork- any time of year, they're always there. Right now I don't have a filet one in my freezer because I've been exploring new territories. And I'll probably be out looking for a new honey hole this weekend. I know I won't find any secret spot never before seen by man but it'll be new to me.

I Must say, I don't have a problem with people hunting or fishing at cooper but I normally don't advertise it because in years I've seen Cooper get more and more crowded and less and less spots for me to hunt or fish on. I love Cooper and one the biggest reasons for that is because it's not as crowded as other lakes and there are still undiscovered hunting and fishings spots there. I will never insult anyone or send them nasty emails but I will try not to expose it. I hope you guys understand and agree with me.
Peace.
