I guess all around fishing also. Aluminum or fiberglass? And what is the benefit of both? Thank you for any help you give.

It's a ford vs chevy question, but I have fished out of them all extensively: center consoles, bass boats, pontoons, deep v, flat bottom, modified v...you name it.
In my opinion, a deep v boat is the most versatile all-around fishing boat:
- plenty of room for people to sit comfortably - plenty of room for people to fish comfortably - high sides keep kiddos safer from falling overboard - lighter weight = easier to pull behind vehicle - less hp engine required over fiberglass boats due to lighter weight
Just love these type boats. Plenty of room, storage, and extras to make a great all-around family boat.

Duck Jerky said it best. I love my Bass Boat and not willing to trade it off, but the facts are the facts. If you want the best for Crappie fishing boat then he said it right. And, then you have each to their own preference.

What Duck Jerky said. I have a bass boat and love it but I would get a deep V the next time I am looking for a boat.

That's the great thing about crappie fishing, you see people fishing for them in all kinds of boats. It's all about what makes you happy.... Pros and cons on both boats, just find what you want and go with it......

It's hard to beat my Lund. I've owned lots of bass boats and I currently have a 18 ft Lund & a 24ft skeeter Center console. As far as comfort of fishing with 2-3 people my Lund is excellent. It's super stable and also does well in rough water for it's size. Call Joe at advantage marine if your looking for a new one.

If I must pick one, then it would be a deep V because it has more Pros than Cons for crappie fishing. However, I there are cons on Deep V as well... Most are minor, but here are 2 significant ones that stick out to me. 1) Since it is lighter and sits higher out of the water, it is subject to be blown by the wind more easily. Trolling Motor skill is a must and more so than a fiberglass bass boat. 2) Dock shooting is not nearly as easy when approach a dock at full lake level due to its height once again...
As of for me, I have small children so the Deep would serve me better, however, if I am single and not have to worry about the comfort of other member of the family, then I would still favor the sturdier heavier fiberglass boat, especially during spawn activities...
My 2cents!

anything that floats on my end. That is so true, (anything that floats) I think it comes down to the lakes you like to fish on some lakes are small (and a smaller boat works best) and on some of the lakes the big ones Yep go with something bigger). But really it comes down to Motors (4 stokes Really Best) and then Trolling Motor (the bigger the better 36 volt it's all day long) and here is the kicker - electronics GET THE SIDE IMAGE UNITES that is what makes all the difference. All boats float and get you across the lake (they are really the same just pick that size for the lakes and the water you fish on) but everything else It really does MATTER.

I've owned a total of 21 boats, and the deep vee aluminum Lund 1825 Explorer SS that I currently own, is the best of the lot. I really don't think that I would want anything changed in order to get a better crappie boat.

Yep I agree Guy. For those of you that dont know. Guy, Ernest, & I all have Lunds that are very similiar. Ofcourse if your Guy you need a big motor to scare all your buddies. LOL Actually we all fish very similiar and we have learned that these Lund boats are good guide boats. Yes the wind does blow them a bit more than the heavier fiberglass boats. Yes they are wetter riding in a cross wind in rough water than a heavier boat in many cases. They are however better on fuel and easier to tow. I like my boat and think it has been a good one so far. Like Mark said though it depends on where you'll do your fishing too. You obviously wouldnt need a 18ft Lund to fish creeks and small waters. There really a bit big compared to the small boats you normally see in the creeks and smaller bodies of water.

For me it's the Ranger 681 with an Evinrude Etec. Deep V design with room for 4 people. Although my boats 15 years old it's still the best crappie boat. Just my opinion.

I've owned several boats...a tri-hull, bass boat, and two deep v's. I definitely like the deep v's the best for the reasons Duck Jerky mentions.
You don't even need a big deep v to perform well. My father-in-law runs a 17' sylvan with a 25 yamaha and another fried runs a 14.5 Lund with a 40 honda. I used to have a 16.5 ft. Alumacraft with a 30 Merc I bought from Joe at Advantage Marine. All are comfortable roomy boats that will take some rough water and are crappie fishing machines.
I currently run a 1725 Lund Explorer Sport. Like Chuck said "Go see Joe at Advantage Marine" and check out the Lund and Crestliners they are nice boats plus Joe will treat you right.
