Hello Fellow TFF's,
With the gas prices as high as they are I am looking at starting to go Crappie Fishing at Lake Bonham which is only 15 minutes from home.I went out today to Lake Bonham to take some photo's of my Fish Mark 320. First I really don't know how to interpret what it is showing. WOuld my fellow TTF's please give me feed back on the photos. I have tried different settings and I do not know which one are best.

This is what I mostly see. Is this anything?

As you can see my Sensitivity is set to 74 %. Is that the best setting?

This is a photo of the same are from the previous photo with Fish ID turned on. Is this really a school of fish?

Are these really fish on this drop-off?

I changed the setting to Fish ID. Are these really fish on the left of the screen?

Please provide as much feedback as possible. I am in the learning phase of Crappie fishing.

I would turn the sensitivity down a little. I would forget that fish ID thing.

Agreed! The one that shows 14.3' is close but still a little sensitive. It looks like there is a brush pile or other structure to the right side of the screen, with some fish hanging around it.

Im no pro but I would say thay are shad or bait fish with some small fish mixed in on a few pics that have some small arches. If you move around and your screen clears up I would say bait fish. For sure. There just not balled up. smile

Start here........

From the first page of the Menu

Turn Fish ID Symbols and Depth off....

Turn Auto Sensitivity off....

Set sensitivity to 75%

Set Grayline to 70%

You should be good to go from there on out........ thumb

Lord.....Please forgive me for what I am about to do to your crappie......AMEN

is there a lot of grass in the lake? looks like some major clutter on the screen. Bait fish tend to ball up this time of year-
~how and where is your transducer mounted, and is there another unit( flasher or other graph) on at the same time.

The Transducer is mounted on the rear of the boat. The lake has no structure. My other Fish FInder was off at the time of these photos.

I have read on this forum we should sometimes go fishing without a rod and get into your electronics. Thats what this trip was. I did mamage to tie up under the bridge and catch some Crappie all were 9 to 9 .5 inches. The water under the bridge was 11 feet deep. Lake bonham has an abundance of Crappie I just need to find the BIG ONES!!!

Turn your sensitivity down and your fish id off, this should solve your problem. On that graph your sensitivity in water 5-20ft deep should be 60-70%. Anything more than that and you'll never trust your graph, because it will show too much clutter.
