I have been fishing a lake in Lubbock Tx.
named Buffalo Springs Lake for crappie,
but have not caught any crappie.
Has anybody caught crappie at this lake.

Bigmo-
Hav'nt fished it in about 5 years but used to catch lots of crappie on tiny 1/16 oz. tube jigs in the shallow reeds just to the right of the spillway that goes over to Ransom.

I haven't fished it yet this year, but typically crappie fishing is best in the lower lake in the heavy cattails. Swim some small jigs in among the cattails and work it slow. You might be a little early right now, but it should pick up soon.

On a bad note, the lake is experiencing a golden algae kill in the upper lake. So far, it has not effected the lower lake much. Let's hope it fades away fast.

Hey bigmo. I guess there are some people from Lubbock reading this thing . I haven't had much luck the past few years out at Buffalo Springs fishing for crappie. The early bite should have started at the shallow end of the lake by now, but I haven't been able to catch any. I don't think the golden aglae bloom is helping anything.

Seems to be quite a few from Lubbock actually. Funny I have lived here 10+ years and still have never been to Buffalo Springs, always told the water quality was questionable there.

Hope to fish Buffalo Springs Lake
next week.
Now, about the golden algae bloom
in the lake,i hope it fades away soon.
Buffalo Springs Lake is a great lake to fish
for crappie and other fish.

I have talked to the Texas Parks and Wildlife about the golden algae
bloom in Buffalo Springs Lake.
They have told me that in the next few weeks they will be checking the lake to see how bad it really is.
