I just heard from a buddy that he was catching crappie at night at our favorite marina from 5-9pm. Being a lure fisherman and quite new to crappie fishing, can anyone shed some light (no pun intended smile ) on what color jigs work for night crappie? This particular marina has lights and condos. I fish this marina during the day and consistently catch them on chart head/black body/chart tail and redhead/chart body/white tail.

Another question is I use glow plastics very succesfully for night fishing down at the coast. Has anyone ever used glow plastic jigs for crappie at night? Do they even make them?

Thanks in advance!

I have fished for 30 years for Crappie at night off of Marinas and piers. The BEST color at night
, no matter what lake, is a red or black head, black body,
red tail. Not pink, not orange, but RED. You will catch 3 to 1 more Crappie than the other guy.
Also try to match the length of your Jig with the length of the shad. Using Tube Jigs you can trim the tail to match the length. You can buy the larger TUBE jigs at Walmart, 2 inch, for this time of year.
