Took the boat out today. (150 Mercury carburated) Started fine, when I took off it died out like it wasn't getting fuel. I checked the bulb and it was empty and soft. I pumped it up and took off again. It died out again once it burned the fuel that was pumped into it. Did it all day until I was headed back to the ramp. No problems then. The motor has an inline fuel pump installed, haven't had time to check if it is still working. Any suggetions? I'm kind of at a loss. Thanks

My Johnson 115 did this and I replaced the fuel bulb and hose, cheap and quick so worth a try I figured. The hose clamps that were holding the fuel hose with bulb in place were stripped so pressure wasn't maintained but couldn't tell until I went to unscrew the hose clamps and noticed they were stripped. Went ahead and put the new hose and bulb in with the new clamps and no problems for a year now.

With an inline fuel pump you dont need a bulb.

My 82 Mariner 150 did this and it was the vent hole in the fuel tank not letting air into the tank and caused the fuel not to go to the motor. Just a thought if none of the other things work.

My 40HP started doing that trick last year turned out to be the wiring harness in the motor. It was grounding out. $100 buck and about 4 hours labor and no problems since.
