 Boat Wont Turn Off With Key

I have a 1992 Nitro with Johnson 115 that runs fine. However, when I turn the key off it keeps running and I have to pull the kill switch to stop the motor. This just started doing this the last outing. Any ideas on what the issue could be?

sounds like just a bad switch, try changing it out, shouldnt cost much.

My 86 Mariner does the same thing. Except the kill switch won't even kill it. Any suggestions?

start by replacing both your switches, still not much money and not shutting off with the kill switch is extremely dangerous.

Bad ignition switch, bad connection, corroded harness plug connection or broken ground wire in the harness between the ignition switch and the motor. Not likly both switches will quit at the same time.

It could be a bad power pack. The kill circuit could not be working correctly.
