usually go to the White River in Arkansas every summer ( Wild Cat Shoals)

I tend to do alot of fly fishing and wadeing when there is not alot of gates open, however we also take the boats out and all of the family fishes, i've seen alot of things mentioned here that we have used but the one thing that we just kill them on is Corn.

Straight out of a can, we fill zip lock bags up and put them in the boat.

If you want to FISH for them, Mepps spinners (size 00 to 1), small spoons like Super Dupers, ultralite cranks, casting bubble and beadhead nymph or jig...If you want to CATCH them, Power Bait, corn, salmon eggs.

If you don't know what a casting bubble is, do a search here at TFF or Google it.

casting bubble is used it you want to fish with flies on conventional tackle. Powerbait works best for the stockers. #10 hook on a split shot rig, 6# line on a ultra light. Chartreuse is probably the #1 producing color I have seen. I prefer to fy fish for them but will break out the powerbait if things get real tough

We go to OK and AR for trout and I like ultra lite spinning gear w 4 lb test and no weight, Texas rig a natural colored 4 in power worm and watch for line movement. Works great on rainbows and brownies. Can't remember the hook size but it's so small I can't tie a knot with my fat fingers.

Mash the barb for ease of getting the hook out of the trout's mouth. Get a pair of forceps, they are handier than needle-nose pliers for trout. Just a couple of bucks at Cabela's or a sporting goods store.

The stocking times will be out the middle of November most stocking start around the first of December and run thru Feb. The best rigs are 4/6 pound test line rigged with a #14 or #16 treble hooks with a small split shot approx 12 inches above the hook. The most successful baits are Berkley trout powerbait dough in garlic,
peach salmon egg, and yellow. a flourescent 3 inch Berkley trout worm, a small spinner such as a 1/16 or 1/8 luhr Jensen Krocodile in silver/red or a 1/8 Blue Fox spinner also have some success.

Try the little trout worms rigged with a Tru-turn arbendene hook about #8-#10, exposed. 4-6# Green line. I like Stren Magan-Thin.

A bubble is a clear bobber. Most are egg shaped that you fill with water to add weight for casting. You can find them at Bass Pro and the like. They apparently don't spook the fish as much as an old Red and White bobber. That may work on wild trout but I don't think it matters much to a hatchery released fish. The like anything bright colored.

I fish for trout all the time, best bait is Berkley power baits in the paste, usually the most glitter is the best. They come in many difference colors. Use a very small trout salmon egg type hook and just "ball up" the paste on the hook and get ready! I fish with 4lb test and a 1/4 ounce sinker tied 18" above the hook and let it sit on bottom.

I don't always catch fish, but when I do, I prefer Dos Hybrids

In-line spinner baits in bright colors work very well.
