Does anyone know of any good free public spots to fish for trout on the Guadalupe near New Braunfels?

usually up and down river road, but it helps to know when the stocking is taking place.

get on texas parks and wildlife website, they show they stoking schedules and how many and what size. most of the fish are around 10" but i have seen much bigger caught. i would rec. getting there a day or two after stocking, thats when i have usually had the best results. have caught plenty off 306 around the loop area, make sure to repaort anyone keeping more than their limit, trust me you will see them around the cayon dam tailrace area.

do you usually fish upstream from the second bridge crossing on 306? or do you fish in the regulated area where you can only catch one trout 18 inch minimum size limit? If you fish upstream from the second bridge crossing, isn't the bag limit 5 and length?

Huaco Springs is a free spot where they stock the standard 8-10 inch fish and the bag limit is five but the fish do not stay around for very long.

If you are fishing just below the dam, yes, you will usually find an aray of people with spinning reels throwing corn, dough bait, and any other thing they can think of.
