I am interested in finding a spot for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend , just a simple pier or hotspot on the bay? where they can catch fish and lots of them. probably not on a boat or a guided tour. we have not had luck in the past at say the Rockport old bridge pier, or in the surf , or Bob hall type piers. not much luck either at the jetties or small pier in Port Aransas downtown park. Any ideas where the boys can just catch ( and release) , they are young and just enjoy lots of bites. We stay on the beach outside Port Aransas, at Grand Caribbean ....... (Dad)

Try the pier at the end of Station St in Port A. (Ansel Brundette)Very kid friendly. Lot's of hardheads/whiting/flounder gafftop and sometimes redfish.

thanks. is that the little pier ----in the park kind of close to the ferry.--- tried that last year. not so many bites except for dropping small hooks straight down off the pier.
do you think certain times of day better? (either there or where you are suggesting) ...
any good experience with the jetties there?
obviously use shrimp and shads. other bait work?
we had good luck with a public pier just on the the aransas pass side of the causeway , can't remember the name, kind of on a penisula, where boats come and go, used cut bait.
thanks for any help. Jake

No, that Roberts Point Park Pier. the pier I'm talking about is on the ship channel at the end of Station street. When you come off the ferry, go straight down cotter till you get to the 4 way stop. Take a left on Station st and you'll come right to it. The peir on the Aransas Pass side is at Conn Brown Harbor. There is also a peir at Fin and feathers bait camp on the right side of the road heading to the Port A ferry. I think it costs about 2 bucks. Good luck
