Does anyone ever use trolling rigs? Praticularly an ubrella rig. Do they work well?

Those umbrella rigs are interesting. I've never tried one. It would seem they would work fine if your not fishing heavy cover but for fishing heavy cover I don't think they would work well at all.

I use the Capps/Coleman rigs for trolling.

Here is my homemade trolling rig.........
Had all the material in my shop so the price was right....
The PVC rod holders will swivel any direction....




Crappie fishing... what else is there ??

I use u-rigs on stripers off planer boards or flat lined back. For crappie not so much. They have a heavy weight and sink like an anchor. I use Pursuit rod holders/tracks. I am not up on trolling for crappie, I need to try that out. Now I have trolled a shad rap that will bounce off the tops of submerged trees/brush by tweaking the dive with the depth of the brush, for walleyes. Crappie fishing in NM is not the same deal, or so it seems to me as TX. Just because it is great in TX and sucks in NM. IMHO

Looks like 6in pipe to me. Thats a pretty good idea, might build some for my boat.
