 Choke Canyon.... any crappie biting there?

I am heading down to south Texas in mid-January and would like to take my Dad crappie fishing at Choke Canyon. I have never fished there for crappie and was wondering if anyone has had any recent success. We usually try for catfish, but I wanted to get my Dad on some crappie. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
