Just purchased a new depth finder for my 201 Stratos. Not quite sure yet if I want to put the transducer on the trolling motor or in the bilge area, so I don't want to permanently mount it in the bilge area YET. So my question is, can I use silicone caulking to secure the transducer without any interference problems until I decide where to permanently mount it with epoxy?

I guess cause I have read where some have used it with no problems. Being that it would be temporary wouldn't hurt to try.

Temp. should be ok. The boat i currently have had the rear trans. installed with it and it lasted for awhile before it came loose. Seemed to work pretty good with it though. I then went with actual trans. glue and is solid.

Troy250, squish that transducer way down into that silicone. Then you can build it up on the sides of the transducer to hold it in place. The silicone will act like a buffer, the thicker it is the more it will buffer the signal. Good luck & good fishin'
