Congrats, Kelly! It's a victory for this whole forum that you have your boat completed and in the water.

Now to catch some fish!

You may also might consider looking into some trailer guides. This will not only help you load your boat easier, but they will also stick up high enough you can see where your trailer is when you are backing it down the ramp also.

When the boat is not on my little trailer I have to put the tailgate down. It works just fine but I have to watch how hard I turn the trailer so I don't jackknife the winch into the tailgate.

Take the tailgate off and you can see the trailer, unless there is enough room just to drop the gate....

Let the tail gate down on the truck. I have same issue with my 12 ft boat and trailer. I can barely see the back of the trailer when backing and looking out the back window, but when the trailer begins down the ramp I lose total sight of it. That's when I let the tail gate down. I have a Ranger pick up also. Be careful though that the winch post doesn't hit the tail gate. Have to take it slow when the tail gate is down to keep from hitting it.

Put the plug in.

Thanks everyone. Catfish Mike, yes that is what I was looking for this evening. I didn't find any. I went to two Academies, and Gander Mt. Maybe they had them and I missed them. I might just do the home made thing...but it depends on what these guides/flag thingies cost. Thanks for all the tips everyone.

Thanks for that warning. I already messed up my bumper because I didn't get a trailer hitch at first. I was told it wasn't needed. So, if I messed up my tail gate too, I would be supremely ticked. I will have to see how much clearance there is on that. I would freak if I dinged up my tail gate.

If finding flags gets a bit tough you may try the fiberglass reflector rods at Home Depot. I think they are 36" and are a few bucks a piece. They are by the garage sale signs.
