Thursday evening at Harbor Bay Marina,in the slips were clouds of black fry. Could this be shad spawn this time of year?

We typically see these "clouds" in the fishing barges around West Texas from October through March. They seem to be more abundant in the sunlit areas of the barge (sun coming through a window and hitting the water inside, i.e.). It is my understanding that these are actually plankton clouds that feed on sunlight (baitfish aren't usually far behind these clouds either). Could be way off base here, but I don't believe they are fish fry. Just my two cents. Good fishing.

Harbor Bay is on Ray Hubbard.
Will be checking out the crappie Sat. am there and will post my findings.
