Yup... I screwed the pooch yesterday. Got into a conversation with a couple folks at the ramp and then hop into boat to load it onto trailer.... with the trolling motor down... juggle

Looks like a pretzel now... need to replace the shaft on it. Any idea what the cost is?

For you Minn Kota lovers who want to chime in about the composite shaft... trust me I would have snapped it like a toothpick... cheers

Call Don at Boris tommorrow. He will fix you up. I'd also have him see if its still under warranty so that when he is repairing the shaft he can do a check up on the whole thing and catch anything that may be an issue,

I am guessing here but I think its $125-150 or so on the shaft. At least on the MK they were when I had to replace one a while back.

Shafts for 101 MG are about $80 at Southwest Parts. I've replaced two of them myself and it takes about two hours. Pull the top and get the electrical fitting replacements along with a tube of red LocTite. You will also need a large vise and a hot air gun. It's not a too bad. Oh, forgot one thing, you will need a rivet gun also.

did the same thing but my prop hit the frame first and when the aluminum blades didn't bend, the prop shaft did. Had to rebuild the lower unit as well as replace the shaft.

i worked for a trolling motor shop and I believe that it should be $75 labor and another 100 or so for the inner and outer shafts. Mark the only shaft that is covered under warrenty is the Minnkota shaft.

Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.
