Kelly, sweet. I can't wait until we see photos of it on the water! Many memories to be made in that boat.

Nice boat indeed. It has inspired a paintjob on mine. Later of course but I will paint it.

WOW, that looks a lot better than it did. No wonder you are trying not to mess up that paint job, it looks good. Honestly I was a bit skeptical when you said "spray paint" but then again, there are a few people that can actually paint with a shaker can and make it look good.

Thanks everyone. I was going to do a roll and tip method to paint it. My friend's husband talked me out of it. He thought if I spray painted it, it would be better. I was very skeptical. But I decided to follow his advice. The boat looks so much better than it did, it isn't even funny. But that took many a day of working on it, but I think the results are certainly worth it, and worth the wait for sure. I am thrilled y'all like it so far. :-)

My advice is...if you don't have the time or patience, do not even attempt this. It took MUCH LONGER than I would of ever dreamed. It also took more money too. I tried to replace stuff with stainless, and that always costs more, but it is worth it in the long run. The seats have galvanized carriage bolts though. I could not find stainless on them when I did that part of it. If you paint in the wind, expect grit all over your boat. It will take 3 times as much paint too.

Does the black spot stuff rub off or come of on you or anything?
If so then it should be easier to wash or rub off.
If not, take that good lookin boat and go catch some fish!!!

I went over to do the bracket today. The pvc pipe comes in at an angle, so it is going to be a bugger to get the bracket on...I tried to use a drill today to put two holes in for the fasteners...there is only about a half inch lip to attach it to. The drill bit wore down, and would not go through. I just couldn't believe it. So when I came back home, I picked up another drill bit. This one better do the job. I was not a happy camper. Anyway, here are two pics I took today while there. The second picture the flash was too bright, sorry about that. At least you can see what was done pretty much. You can see the pipe at the bow, and where it must attach. The boat is much cleaner now than previously, but still not finished. I will have to re-wax the thing. I bet I took off all the wax trying to get that black stuff off of it.

It won't just rub off, but it was an extreme eye sore. I was afraid it would get all over me. My nose was running too, when I was out there cleaning on it. I think I was allergic to whatever was on it. So it was best that I got the majority off before fishing it. That last item of the pvc pipe is excruciating. I had planned to take the boat out late this afternoon. Now my son has plans tomorrow and won't go with me. (he says he has had them for a month) I just want to go fishing, TOMORROW. But I will have to have help with that bracket. My son twisted on it to try to get it to fit on an angle...but it wasn't doing just right. I had hoped to get the inside hole done, then force the outside of the other side of the pvc to lay flat. If that doesn't work, I will use two brackets. (or try to) Sounded simple, add a bracket. But there are always "circumstances", at least that has been my experience thus far.

Kelly, you have done an absolutely OUTSTANDING job with that boat!!

I hadn't seen any current pics but I can remember a bunch from earlier in the project and your boat is just flat awesome.

I wish i didn't have plans tomorrow, or i would come over and help you get that pesky bracket sorted out so you could get to fishing. If you have a heat gun, I bet you could get that PVC to bend into the shape your needing it to go which should help the bracket attach a little easier. If you do try to heat and bend it, be sure to put something behind it - cardboard would work, to protect the paint.

Are you going to name your boat? As fine a boat as you have there now sure deserves a nice name I would think. thumb
