For my 2nd jig, the one on top, I have been tieing a loop knot then attaching my jig with a leader line. Is this the proper way to do it or should I be sliding the jig onto the line, where the jig would be hanging directly on the loop knot? Thanks,

Mark

Mark,,
I believe either way will get the job done, my preference is to go directly to the loop knot for the top jig. I also use a 1/32nd jig at the top and a 1/16th at the bottom......Good luck and keep a tight line, so as to feel the THUMP......

I prefer to put the jig on the line and then tie the loop.

This is a dropper loop. Slide the jig on your line that you want at the top of the double jig set-up. Leave about 24-30 inches of tag line below where you want to tie your top jig on. Now tie the dropper loop per the photo and instructions. You will have to pass the jig thru the center with the line. I like to use a pencil (or nail) to keep the center open enough to finish the knot.

Then you want to tie the bottom jig on the end of your line about 12-15" under this top jig. Now you have a double jig set-up.

Or you can do just the loop without the jig and leave the loop about an inch or inch and a half long and thread the loop thru the jig eye far enough to pass the jig thru the loop, then cinch the line down on the eyelet.

unclemilti,
Go to my website and go to 'Links'. Then go to "Knot Knowledge". You have both pictures and explinations there.

Guy, since all the knots on your site(which is so good and informative) can be used, which one do you use. I like the figure 8 since it is so easy.

I'll answer this one for Guy. I had asked him the same question last night.

His answer... "Exactly." smile

Thanks for the responses. The way I've been doing it, with a leader line, is what led me to my initial question. My jig keeps wrapping around the main line. I guess I could use a larger line for the leader, but I like the idea of putting the jig directly onto the loop. But, I have one more question; Will the jig hang horizontal while being directly on the loop?

Mark

Joe & fishnbeers,
I use the "In-Line Figure 8"

MWNB,
It will hang horizontal if you put the jig on the line first and then tie the knot. It has to be free to move on the line. If you were to tie a loop knot and then "tie" your jig to that; you've just defeated the purpose of the loop.

Here is the link on my website. This will make it easier to see.

For some reason I cant get the In-Line Figure 8 knot to not cinch down, if I use fishing line. If I do it with rope It stays confused .

Kind of knot related - I'm going to go fish some creeks and am going to use some road runners. I'm planning on putting on 2 or 3 abotu a foot apart? Do you have a weight or anything on the bottom below the lowest jig to keep that last jig just off the bottom? Any advice woudl be appreciated.

Thanks.
