Has anyone been on Lake Somerville lately? I have a club tourney Sat. 17th, taking my 12 yr old son. Just curious if anyone has had any luck catching blacks.

bump...I'm interested in seeing a comment on this as well. If no takers, how did the club tourney go on Saturday?

Well it was tuff for eveyone that showed up (6 teams I think). I had one fish and a few guys had two but they were all decent. I caught mine on a dropshot. Not real sure what the others caught them on. But the lake looked real good: 74 degrees, lots of flooded vegitation but no pattern to get on. Flipped a ton of bank with one bite on a jig, went to senko caught three short fish, tried crankin, nothing. Finally went to the big island a dropshoted caught three, with 1 keeper. My son had 1 bite all day. Im takin him to Choke this wekend so he can pull on something.

Thanks for sharing your report... Somerville is tough more times that not for me, but I still find a couple times a year when it turns on a bit. Guess right now is not one of them. Good luck at Choke and say hi to the Gators.

Brazos Valley Bass club fished Somerville on Sunday. I won the tournament with four fish, just over nine pounds. We had one member weigh three fish, one weighed two, and just about everyone else had just one. I caught my fish flipping the reeds.

Congratulations, way to go, Gerald. So how come you told me you caught them off the rocks in a foot of water. Smile. Roll the eyes.

Thank God for Texas and the USA!!! - Ray
