Haven't seen this one on here but: I take 5 to 10 of those little white Crappie Nibbles that come in a jar, mix with a little bit of water and make a thick paste. I then take a 20 ml syringe (w/o the needle)and suck it up. I then inject the paste up inside my hollow tubes with it. It does work as we were catching 3 to 1 (injected vs non-injected). Don't get it too wet as it will dissolve to quickly but it has to be moist enough to be sucked up into the syringe. usally a 1/2 syringe full will last all day or night. i have used it bass tubes as well.

I have been useing that for a couple of years now, except i have a 200ml syringe. Only thing that i have done is used some shad spray and the liquid crappie powerbait to thin it out instead of useing water.
Works great, i started doing to more because of the perch picking the nibbles off.
My syringe is actually used for flushing a wound, has a plastic tip that comes to a fine point. Anyone can pick them up at a vet supply or a feed store. I think i have about 3 or 4 boxes out in the barn for doctoring cattle/horses.

Fishin247, i don't use a needle as I would stick myself too many times plus it is not real sanitary if you do. The snout on that 20 ml works fine for me. Although I do carry a 20 gauge needle for hook removal if necessary. I keep it in the sterile pack it comes in and God forbid I get one in past the barb. But if i do, just take the needle and slip it in the wound over the barb and the hook will come right out.

Good tip on getting a hook out. I've heard that you can use mono line to do the same. I always just run it on through and cut the barb off. Carry razor blades to cut the skin and allow the hook to come out easier. Your way soounds less painful

Jerry it is less painful but always keep the needles in the sterile pack. A nice doctor showed me how it was done as he took a big top water lure out of my chin!!

I am headed that way, I do appreciate the info! Not to much info, just the right amount. Be generous with those tips.

Ain't it amazin' how tough human skin is when you run a hook into a finger past the barb and have to push it through the other side to clip it off! I was by myself fishing for crappie on a beautiful spring day trying to fish two jig/minnow combo's at once and after baiting up, attempted to toss the jig over the boat. It hung on something and as I was moving my hand out of the way the hook hit me, HARD. It was so painful and I thought about driving 15 miles to town and seeing a doctor but knew if I did, I would miss out on the next 4 hours of the best fishing time. Working civil service for 20 years, I then thought about our troops in Iraq and what some of them had endured and my finger seemed a very small issue. I proceeded to push the hook through my finger, admittedly stopping every once in awhile to rethink my decision. Great relief came over me when the point eventually broke through the surface, and one final push released the barb. Now, where are those fish!

FYI, the pharmacist at the Rockwall Walmart gave me a free dropper because he was out of the oral syringes. I assume the syringe would have been free, too, if he had any on hand.
