Anybody ever fish in the San Jacinto? I looked on TPWD and couldn't find anything in it. I'm moving to Houston and have been staying on the north side lately and looks like a river that might hold some big carp/catfish/gar....

Anybody have any experience?

San Jac has it's surprises... As long as you make sure to fish ABOVE the ship channel. You could also fish in "Big Eddy" at the back of Eisenhower park. Lots of cat, buffalo...carp.. white bass.. you name it.. more than likely, they have it in the San Jacinto.

Thanks for the input. I'll check out that park at some point in time. Do you know of anybody catching anything with some size to it in the river (10 lbs or up?)

Also, I looked at lakehouston.com but there's not as much activity on that site as this one.

try the boys over at lakehoustonfishing.com. great group of guys there. If you have a jon boat or a kayak, up river from the lake has it's goodies. Last sunday, I seen a guy hauling a huge flathead out of Big Eddy...so yeah, they're out there.

My sister and brother inlaw live within 5 minutes of the San Jacinto right there by lake Houston. We catch redfish out of there using crankbaits and it is awesome! Can't wait to go back.
