what's the latest on the crappie fishing on Conroe? people catching them at the docks yet? looking to get out there soon and was wondering if I need to take the boat out to 1097 or just stay at the marina and fish the docks. Anyone had any luck lately?

Had some help from Mrs. Crappieattitude and my boys on Monday 10/19/09. We fished from 1pm till 3:30pm . Water temp still at 73. Found the fish on brush in 16' of water on the bottom. Had 30 crappie 19 keepers 3 brim 1 cat. And this fun fight on a 11' jig pole. Mrs Crappieattitude got big crappie of the day. What a great day with the family.

Crappie fishing has been very good on Conroe.3 spots that have prodiced in the past week are the humps at the entrance to Atkins Creek between 16-21' using small Cotton Cordell casting spoons and bouncing it off the bottom on the retrieve..Live Branch where all of the stick ups are in the middle using chartreuse humdingers. And the backside of the island in 14-19' using small chartreuse/white TNT slabs.Biggest over the 3 days went 15 1/2" and 1.98lbs behind the island..but he hit when we switched over and were hybrid fishing with TNT 1.5oz MPS.

Guys thanks for the information I probably won't be able to get out there until next weekend hopefully the fish are still holding that pattern. I tried to go on Wednesday night but it was just to windy to hold a spot and ended up fishing the Walden docks. Ended up catching a few smalls nothing for the frying pan.

The question about catching fish on the docks was never answered. We all know the fish are in the lake fishing with a boat but when and where are the docks and marinas producing?
I fish Palms Marina and have had virtually no luck since May catching nice crappie. I went a week ago and caught two small ones with very few bites.

I also would like to know a decent spot. Not asking for your honey hole, just a place to bring home some for a fish fry..
All I need is a few good sized crappie and Im set.
Have lots of Cats, LMB's, and even Bowfin. So now I need some crappie.
I hook a few while LMB fishing but not enough to make a good fish fry..
I am willing to do the leg work to catch some. Just where I go beating the banks does not produce crappie.
The little guys I have been CNR put up one heck of a fight. I cant wait to get a good sized crappie on the line.
LOL, My bank crappie rig is a tiny 4.5 rod with 6 pound on it. WOW it gets the blood flowing!
