anyone right handed try learning to cast and pitch/ flip with your left hand so as soon as the lure hits the water your ready to reel? Ive been practicing in the backyard trying to learn to pitch and flip left handed and also cast and man its hard to get the mechanics down lol. I have a hard time even pressing the thumb bar and getting my hands on the rod in the proper position. Its getting better but it is a challenge for sure.

LoL...it is hard, you spend your whole life using one hand, then we all expect to be able to use the other and it feel natural over night. It takes a while, but it is worth it! That left hand can sure speed things up.

LOL! I tried that one time. I went to set the hook and nearly fell backward out of the boat because I didn't know what the heck I was supposed to do! LOL! I was all sorts of backwards.

Yes. In some spots it's the only way to get the cast in without spinning the boat around.

Yes, I was fishing a tournament at Lake Buchanan many years ago and a huge bass hit my lure as I was changing hands. Decided that would not happen again. Started using left hand for bait casting and right hand for spinning reels and either hand for flipping/pitching. It took awhile but not too long and I don't even notice a difference anymore. The good thing is I learned a long time ago to drink beer with either hand so that made the transition easier.

Fishing right handed for so many years, and having to change over to my left hand due to elbow problems, I can switch back and forth without any issues now.

I did and now I'm more acurate with my off-hand. It just takes time and discipline. I spent a lot of time in the back yard with my flippin stick and coffee cans vs. wasting time on the water.

Break your right hand.....you will learn real quick how to fish with only your left! lol That's what it took for me to learn.

I am right handed and learned to flip left handed also, works great moving down a stretch of cover with a jig or TR. I would highly recommend working on it because you cant beleive how fast you can work an area by not changing hands with the rod and reel every flip.

I'm right-handed, but was taught to pitch/flip with my left so it is all I know.

Can't flip/pitch right-handed. crazy

I am naturally partially ambidextrous.

- I write left handed.
- I throw right handed.
- I golf right handed.
- I play tennis left handed.
- I bat either.

I never really thought it when fishing, but as a result it has does have some advantages..

- I reel right handed
- I flip with rod in the left hand...so I don't change hands.
- I can cast with either, but I favor the right hand...so a bit more consistent and accurate with it.

I'm right handed but learned to flip/pitch left handed...funny because I couldn't hit a wash tub right handed now, but I'm fast and accurate left handed.
