Just started fishing this lake recently (June this year). I've fished live bait, sassy shad, slabs, etc.etc. and yet i have not been able to produce a good live well yet. Yes, I've come across schooling sandies during the summer, but still havent caught a sinlge striper or any crappie on this lake different story for a different topic. My question is i've come across the stumps between 2 mile bridge and Holiday Humps marking a LOT of fish at different depths in some locations. My question is what are they and how do I get them in the boat.

Tawakoni old guy answer - I steer clear of the Woods (stumps) altogether so I can't really be of any benefit to you. Fishing the edges of the "stump field" will produce but ya gotta figure out what edges. Just wait'll this winter when Stevie Wonder could catch hybrids and stripes....

welcome aboard Ace i'm not a real fisherman when it comes to hybrids and stripers because we catch em trolling and usually on the hell pet rig
the best spots for hybrids and stripers we have found trolling include due east of the old terrell pump station about 200 yards where a series of humps come up to about 15 feet (probably more like 17 or so now)
out from the white stripe on the dam and toward the SRA headquarters (look for the tall radio tower) in the general area of tall man reach another series of humps that come up to 10 or 12 feet
then off sun and cloud points (be careful over in there)
around March-may, both finger points will hold hybrids and stripers and trolling the dam around mother's day can be amazing
if you can afford a guide for a day, it would be well worth what you'd pay just to get an general idea of areas you should fish, I would have paid for a trip in the amount of fuel money I have spent stumbling on to the good spots

Well, the lake is a few feet high right now and all the stumps are under water. Right now it is extreemely important to know where you are when you are running on plane. A good general rule is to stay near the shoreline when running. A couple hundred yars off actually. The big timber flat starts about even with a line between the mouth of Cedar Cove and the mouth of Wolf Cove. Dont cross the lake anywhere North/West of there (except the boat cut IF you know exactly where it is).
As far as the fish.....they were all over the South end last week. Schooling under birds. Binoculars were much better than a graph. But since the water hasd risen, they really scattered out. Most of the fish caught last week were off points ond humps in 26-30 feet. Mostly just sand bass though.
This cold front ought to spark some activity. I had a trip today, but big N/W wind kept us off the lake. Might try to get out later if it slacks up some. It looks like a good nasty day to wear the striper out!

I'm heading to Tawak next weekend... I hope to get on some sandies or stripers myself. Hopefully the birds will be in full force, that always helps.
Good luck all.

well, our scouting trip Saturday was, as we all sometimes say, a nice day to be out on the lake- we only managed three white bass and they were near the old terrell intake
