24 network cable spools double tie-strapped. Going to drill more hole in the shafts like the bottom right hand spool. The christmas tree part are from an artificial my better half was throwing out so I thought what the heck! I hope these works because a get a steady supply of these spools. Will sink at lavon soon. Spider rig bench I'm working on to the left. I'll post a picture when it's done.

Looks like it's attracting critters already. Note: the dog is on the "shady" side of the cover...

Careful about sinking structure at lavon, it is considered illegal as that is a corp of engineers lake. Just don't get caught.
As for the condo, I like the make up of that, but it looks like you will lose alot of jigs in it. I will defer to the Guru's on that though, it does look like it will pull in fish for sure.

Im thinking about removing the "limbs" to cut down on the snags. Also thinking of a wire basket filled with rocks in the middle of the bottom section for weight instead of just concrete blocks. Any suggestions for a location on Lavon? I was thinking about the north side of the island so it's protected from the south wind but I think most fish are caught on the south side?? Now if I could just teach my dog to dive and point on crappie!

I'd put it on the south side, just south of the split between the islands. There is access to deep water, and there is a roadbed down there.

Nice looking condo Hawg. Have you thought of laying it on it's side? You won't lose as many jigs, but you do lose surface area. Anyway, just a thought. I like it. Did it take long to make?
I sure miss the stump dodging on Lake Fork...But I'm coming back soon to catchOVER the slot! 👍🏾

Thanks cbob, Never thought of turning it on it's side. I don't know which is more important height or width. I don't mind losing a few jigs if I'm catching. Didn't take to long to make, I just tie-strapped six spools, top and bottom in a circle for each section and will tie-strap the sections together in the boat before sinking. I thought I would post it in case their are any other members that have access to these type of spools.

Hawgwild, Looks like a great design, I am sending an e-mail out to all technicians to save wire spools. Let us know how the design works.

I cannot believe the lengths that you crappie addicts will go to catch a few fish. I am going to call the SPCA and tell them what you intend to do to that poor dog! Attaching that innocent dog to your brush pile. Shame on you!

HawgWild, rather than tie wraps to hold these spools together, how about some quick set JB weld or other quick drying epoxy....Reckon you could mix some up and just a little dab between each spool as you stacked them on top of each other?? Just a thought. What you got looks like a heck of a design. ------------------ Mike www.WhiskerKitty.com

If I were a Crappie that condo would have a "Sold" sign out front.

Thanks again guys! The girlfriend and two kids just moved in, so fishing time has been cut down some. Going to try and get up early one morning soon and get this thing sunk. MikeC-Might try the JB Weld on the next one. Do you think it will hold up under water? I just want the thing to out last me (that's all). Brace-Your Killin me!! I do know one cat I would like to send down with it! Hopefully I will be able to give a report soon.

HawgWild, being under water would be absolutely no concern....My only concern would be whether it would bond to the material these spools are made out of?? If they are made out of Polyethelene, then you would need a poly welder like I have to stick them together. But, if they are just common plastic.....The JB Weld (make sure it's the quick set version) should work just fine. Wish I could get my hands on an endless supply of these spools. ------------------ Mike www.WhiskerKitty.com

Sank it this morning with three concrete stepping stones in the bottom section, but to much wind to try to fish it. Not too much trouble putting out and showed up good on my new Eagle 320 I bought yesterday. Would like to put out a couple more in the same area. Can anyone advise on how far to space condos to make a good group?
