It's a sign of the times. No group is immune from rude or stupid people. Used to be that fishermen were trust worthy, honest (except when telling about their catches) and considerate, but today, I have had just as many run ins with other fishermen as jet skiers.

c'mon, don't be naive. skiers/boarders love to swamp fishermen. it's a hate-hate relationship.

i have to say, of all the places, i fished lake lewisville last weekend using a sit-on-top kayak & every one of the the boaters / skiers were super-good to give us a wide berth, even when paddling close to the main channel.

i don't know about everyone elso, but if its a nice day and i'm on a boat, i'll have a fishing pole in my hand. I think pretty much all true anglers would agree.

2 points...

1- how many of you still get mad if the skiers or pleasure boaters are in bikinis?

2- is that a white Gambler behind Bigyella in his tag pic....

I agree with Tex and Bass dreamer, however, chunking lures at passer-bys will only result in a pricey lawsuit or as in a case in South Texas in the mid 1980's the guy that got snagged went to his truck armed himself and shot both of the fishermen. Yes Bassmatt if they are wearing bikini's they can get as close as they want....

The area of the Brazos River in question is actually Lake Granbury. A river is a body of moving water. Tin Top Rd. crosses the upper end of the lake where it is narrow and smooth with a high ridge on the south side. Ham Creek on Lake Whitney is very similar. Most of Texas has a prevailing south wind. This is why you see that boat up close to the rip-rap on Ray Hubbard. And by the way, the whole lake is not smooth. If you have ever skied or boarded you would understand. And besides, where the hell else is there to ski on Hubbard? Nearly the whole damned lake is full of stumps. You have to expect the boarders to be up against the southern shores or where there is protection from wind and other wakes and pleasure boaters. You can fish the whole lake. There are only a few places on each lake suitable for skiing/boarding.

size matters

John, When did you take that pic? That looks just like my Triton. I was in a tournament a while back on hubbard and the wake boarders were buzzing us like crazy.

That was a Ray Hubbard Media Tournament back on Nov. 5, 2005. Fun day with those knuckleheads...

I was out there that day. Our club, Plano Rodbenders, had a tourny that day.

Wakeboarders should yield, period. When a boat is stopped or on trolling motor, it is the "less maneuvarable vessel", and so a power boat must yield right of way. Also, it's just rude. People can fish where they want to. It's easy to move to a different spot to wakeboard. Fishers have to follow the fish -- or where they think the fish are. I think you (original poster) or the guy driving your boat) might have been violating some boating regulations.
