I have been kicking around the idea of having the carpet pulled and having something more long term put down but I'm not sure what the best option is (non-skid fiberglass, Line-X, etc.,etc.). I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on this. Also, what I should plan on out of pocket, ballpark.
Another thing I have also been considering is stripping the gel coat down and changing one of the 2 colors of my boat. Anyone suggest a fiberglass or detailer in the Central Texas area?
The boat is a 1995 17' ProCraft, Colors are Navy Blue(the color I'm looking to change) on Silver.

Would be cheaper to buy a new boat!

I have been considering the same thing. My carpet is in bad shape and with winter approaching it's not a bad time to fix it. I know there are some "do-it-yourself" kits out there BPS and Cabalas both sell one, however they are for trucks. My question is how well would the Line-X, Rhino, ect. bond to the fiberglass?

So striping it down and a new color would cost that much?
Also, I've heard of Rhino option before, any experience with it (does it add a lot of weight, do you slip and slide on it if wet)?

I am thinking of putting down paint and then getting carpet and making it so I can snap it in.
 Boatless for minute

That looks killer, if you wouldn't mind can you message me the details on the work, do you slip and slide when wet at all?
That color is perfect for my boat too.

It seems to me that would be very hot to stand on in the summer sun...

Thanks Bill, that would be awesome...I've heard it does add some pretty significant weight to the boat (about 250 lbs. roughly). My boat only being a 17 footer with 2 people I don't want to be pushing the weight restrictions, definitely would like to see how it turns out!

ProCraftyJr, I strongly recommend the polyurethane bedliner as an alternative to carpet. I coated the decks of my boat with Durabak and I've been really happy with it. The boat looks great and clean-up is simple. Just spray it down. Really nasty stuff requires a little soap and scrubbing. I know that some people will claim that the bedliner will add an excessive amount of weight but lets examine that with a little logic. The bedliner weighs about 11# per gallon. Recommendations are 60-80 square feet per gallon. I used a little over 2 gallons including the foredeck (not visible in the picture). So...I added about 25# to a boat that is MUCH larger than most bass boats. It might be possible to apply 250# of bedliner to a bass boat, but it would be silly. Cheers, Kelly McCoy West Texas
