I knew a guy named Bubba (real name was Arthur, hence bubba) bubba has jedi squirrel sense. Bubbas favorite part of the squirrel were the brains. He would fry the head, just like the rest of the squirrel, crack open the skull and eat the brains. No BS. I seen it more than once. Bubbas reasoning is that to be good at squirrel hunting you had to think like a squirrel. Some people read a book to understand squirrel behavior...bubba eats the squirrels brains. Fried squirrel nuggets with dipping sauce is a friggin' delicacy. Do they eat squirrel anywhere else but TX?

I'm from alabama and we ate squirrels there (people eat them everywhere)... best way I ever had them was slow cooked in a crock pot... very moist and tender, salt and pepper w/ some bbq sauce. gotta be real careful cleaning them to remove all hair from the meat and it's not easy to do it unless you've had a lot of practice.
I don't live for the thump, but I sure do like it.

Squirrel is the fruit of the trees. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sautee it. There's, um, Squirrel kebabs, Squirrel creole, Squirrel gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir fried. There's pineapple Squirrel and lemon Squirrel, coconut Squirrel, pepper Squirrel, Squirrel soup, Squirrel stew, Squirrel salad, Squirrel and potatoes, Squirrel burger, Squirrel sandwich... That's, that's about it.

It's been a long time since I cleaned a squirrel but I remember skinning them which took all the hair out of play. Don't you cut their heads off and then skin them from the neck down?

Taste alot like rabbit, just have to pick the shot/pellets out of the meat sometimes. That's exactly what I think too. I'm not a fan of either but, would take both before I'd eat a duck.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach
