I know that the hurricane has changed alot of the bottom structure at RP, but my questions is how bad on the bay side for wading? Has the ground changed that much like more solid ground of softer sand build up? And, any good results wading out there recently? Thanks in advance thumb

I fish on the surf side a few times last month and I have seen people wade out there in the bay, but I have not tried.
Sorry man, I can't help with your question.

Hey man, my Dad and I wade fished the Pass right before a big northern cold front came in. Wind was howling from the South before the cold front so it was somewhat protected. The bottom was mostly soft mud and there was a few spots where the mud was really soft but it is wadeable and you can walk for ever all along that area. The deepest it gets is like a little over waist deep. We managed to catch on flounder for the strringer and that was it. I saw a small shark which was a little unsettling.
Hope this helps, there were lots of currents so you might wanna where a life jacket or go with a partner for sure

I am with you guys. I want to wade the bay side at ROP. The uncertainty is uncomfortable, but like the rest of you, I want fish, lots of fish, so we do what we have to do.

I used to wade the bay side a lot when I lived in Houston, but I haven't been there in about 2 years. There was plenty of room to wade, the bottom wasn't a problem. It does get a little soft in some areas, but not too bad.

Same here Nate, it has been a couple of years since Ive been there too. I look forward to finding out soon. Will let ya'll know as soon as I get a chance to wade out there. I know one thing for sure, that the theres more higher ground on the bay side than there use to be so it should be interestin.

And to add, I have gotton me some red and white curly tail plastics which have been productive for me in the past. Them curly tails work really good too if you tip them off with shrimp on the end of the hook to add on smell to the plastic.

Here is a must see video for you red fish lovers. I know it's kinda long but wait till you see what happens at about 7 minutes into the video. Truly unbelievable.

I was at rollover yesterday and a saw a lady catch 5 flounder in about 15 minutes. Thursday another rain cold front should light things up for weekend.

Are you man enough or woman enough to wade about 30 feet out in the surf. They would rip you apart. Somebody pass the gold spoons.
