if your slipping in second you need a rebuild i will cost you abit. but you can get a ats performance trans for a little bit more money and it will last forever and will also support power addons to your engine with out tearing the trans up like a stock tranny. i would go ats with a ats torque converter you will have less problems and more towing power better shifts and higher torque converter lockup.

It is best to go to a reputable diesel shop that does transmissions. Have them install an aftermarket torque converter. The $$$ you save will allow you to upgrade the trans to the point it will never blow again.

Has Dogde fixed this issue with the tranny by making a better one?

I had the same prob in my 05' 2500 @ about 120,000 for 75.00 I took it to a local tranny shop and had the fluid and filter changed and bands adjusted now it works great.
