does anyone put braid on their light spinning setups just mainly to get the feel?
With maybe a fluro leader? I was thinking with a drop shot or someting that is going deep, or just throwing something weighless and very light, braid might be beneficial because of the low stretch and great feel.
With the rod being a medium action, I would think that takes place of the line not stretching.

Ive used 15lb braid on my spinning gear for a while now, and tie an 8-10lb flouro leader, about 18", to it.

Now your "think'n with yer Dipstick Jimmy"!! Yes, light braid with a leader on a spinning will work for dropshot. We use it for certain dropshot situations with 20 lb braid and either 10 or 12 Fluoro and a 4-5' leader with a "teeeeny" black swivel to keep the line from twisting. (Typically when we are dropshot fishing WE do it in 25+ deep water and fish it vertically like they do out west. Very seldom do we cast it.) The light line braid will work fairly good with a spinning rod but it is very suspect to the wind. It will float and fly around and wrap around the rod more than Mono. But as you noted it is extremely more sensitive and using a Med (or MAYBE a Med/Hvy rod) is a good trade off for no stretch with braid. It is very easy to rip the hook out of a fish's mouth with a rod that's too stiff. You can also loosen the drag.

I use braid (can't remember the size) with a swivel & flor leader. It works great, casts way better than pure flor.

I have heard that you don't need a swivel with braid to keep out line twist? That would be much easier on the rod guides. Anyone doing that?

Here's a link to a ton of information from Yamamoto about spinning with braid and fluoro leaders. I've been following this recommendation and using a fluoro leader that's around 20' long for a couple of years now. I use a uni-uni knot and have never had the knot fail. My son landed a 7lb'er last winter in the pads and sticks at Monticello with the combination of 20lb power pro and a 15lb fluoro leader so I'm confident in this arrangement. The longer leader seems to help the casting distance quite a bit for me. http://www.insideline.net/weeklynews/2008/08-0520-08.htmlAs for Lucky Bob's question: I sometimes use a small swivel on this rig when I'm drop shotting but don't reel it up into the guides. Otherwise, it's not that the braid keeps the line twist out, it just makes it more manageable than mono or fluoro. You still have to use the right techniques to manage line twist or you will get wind knots even with braid.

Yes...use 8 or 10 pound and tie with a 20lb or 25lb flourocarbon leader using a uni to uni knot.
