Spent the evening with the cable out last night due to a lightning strike and pulled out Ernest's Crappie 101 and Wally Marshall's Wadefishing for Shallow Crappie.

It got me to thinkin' about and curious as to what the top five wade fishing lakes in the DFW area....I've seen it talked about and done on Lavon while bass fishing and a little on Ray Bob but can't say I've seen it done anywhere else.

Lord.....Please forgive me for what I am about to do to your crappie......AMEN

I believe it will work well on most lakes. I have done well on CC and RC doing it.

Absolutly my favorite and most productive way to fish. Most of the lake's in our area, are perfect for wade fishing. Look for lilly pads, elephantears, flooded brush, grassbeds, and dont forget to bring a can of gas just in case you find an area of dryed cattails.

My favorite way to Crappie fish cheers Nothing like sneaking up on a button willow full of sleeping snakes and snatching a biggun out from underneath wink

Works great on Tawakoni. When you fish out of a boat you don't get near as may bites as you do while wading. Instead of wading is use a tube, you don't have to worry about walking up on a fish or steping on brush you just paddel around and it works great. Good places on Tawakoni include a bank that drops off into 1 or feet of water as soon as the your bait hits the water, cattails in no less that 2 feet of water, brush in certain areas, brush cover docks, and any kind of early season grass or weeds growing on the bank. However i would not wade in fork just becasue the water is so clear. God bless

iluvfishin,
In the spring time (when most of us wade), the snakes are out in large numbers, and yes, they will be in the cattails too. I've never worried too much about them though; as there are several cottonmouths around that will attest to the fact that a good crappie pole makes for a good old fashion "a** woopin" when they get too close eek eek thumb .

Thanks for the info. A fishing pole is not enough length between me and a snake! Maybe it's a female thing, I just don't do snakes well!
